Duties and Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE

Studies supply chain operations in order to optimize spare parts inventory. Establishes and manages the variable elements of planning such as part stratification, forecasting, demand history, production schedules, planning lead-times, MIN MAX replenishment, intercompany shipping channels, lifecycle management, and target service levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Monitors inventory and demand trends, reliability, turn-around-time, system departure activity and other inputs to accurately set minimum/maximum levels and station allocations.

  2. Reviews and adjusts min/max levels on regular intervals that support maintenance operations at the least total cost. Coordinates with Warranty/Repair to request material to be expedited from repair when current available levels are not sufficient to adequately stock bases per established min/max levels.

  3. Prepares analysis andleads cross-functional projects to design, plan, and implement planning initiatives.

  4. Investigates and utilizes mathematical and logical models used to optimize spare parts for airline maintenance.

  5. Studies airline business processes and recommends system rules; identifies opportunities to implement system automation and exception based management for material planning department.

  6. Models inventory requirements that support planned and unplanned maintenance activities for expendable, consumable, shop supply, repairable and/or rotable part categories.

  7. Assists in forecasting inventory requirements based on input from Engineering and Maintenance Planning; coordinates with Purchasing and Warranty/Repair to insure inventory is available for scheduled events, disbursement of seed units and availability of service bulleting kits.

  8. Proactively manages customer requests, interprets contracts, and performs cost identification and containment.

  9. Maintains detailed records to include all pertinent information for review/adjustment of inventory plan/allocation or material requests reviewed/processed.

  10. Performs initial and on-going provisioning for active fleets. Reviews provisioning recommendations to ensure adequate physical spares inventory to meet operational requirements.

  11. Analyzes and reviews Non AOG and Non Heavy Check material requisitions for action.

  12. Ensures Part Master entries are accurate in all respects. Maintains correct Part Master identification of Rotable, Consumable and Expendable processes and categories.

  13. Researches and implements additions and changes in the Part Master due to evolving Maintenance requirements, Engineering Orders and Manufacturing changes. Ensures approved alternate part numbers are correctly identified in the Part Master.

  14. Maintains special Part Master attributes such as Hazmat identification, shelf-life requirements, calibration intervals and preventive maintenance requirements.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Aviation Management, Business, Purchasing, Materials Management or related field. Requires 2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management or related area. Excellent computer skills including MS Office.

  • Preferred: 5 years of experience. Prefer Production and Inventory Management certification or Professional in Supply Management Certification. Strong customer service skills.

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and apply principles of logical thinking and mathematical formulas to draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Makes decisions to support strategic decisions. Decisions tend to be medium range and of medium significance with moderate consequences.

  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel.
